My name is Brad Cote and my story is the typical “long way to success” many experience.

When I finally started my first “official” private practice in 2017, it fast tracked my success and allowed me to hit $1.4 Million in just 18 months.

And my "secret turn of luck" was that I had a chance to learn business strategies outside of our industry…

…that kept me from making all the typical mistakes private practice owners make when they get started.
Starting in Entrepreneurship First… Gave Me a Serious Head Start
When I was young I had the entrepreneurial bug.

I bought and sold pallets of products from local stores and sold them on Ebay.

I would go to local stores that had pallets of products not being moved, buy them for pennies on the dollar and flip them online.

Allowing me to have an income at 16, most only dream of…

And it helped build an entrepreneurial mindset that paid off immensely later in my journey.

And it carried right into my time in college as I decided to focus on personal training as my first health based business.
Being a Personal Trainer Taught Me Patient Acquisition And Saved Me From Making The Biggest Mistakes I See In This Space
As a personal trainer, I got to see first hand what worked and didn’t for attracting high-value patients.

I saw what happened when trainers didn’t charge enough or used discounts and “free sessions”…

…let’s just say they didn’t last long as they struggled to make it.

And I also got to learn from industry leaders who were pioneers in marketing, business structure, and running high-level businesses.

Because when I was in med school I was blown away by the advice they were giving.
I was in school, being told that healthcare sells itself. You don’t need to market.  
Seriously?

“If you do good, people will come to you.”  

That was the mantra!  

And frankly, that’s a lie.

Yes, building a good reputation over time will certainly attract referrals, but it's not enough to rely on.

And now, when I hear from Practitioners who don't understand why a Personal Trainer down the road is making $10K+ a month and they're barely making it...

It all makes sense.

The Personal Trainers I learned from were great at marketing, converting leads, selling a unique process for getting results and commanded over $100/hour fees.
And it was a glaring red flag that told me I should cut my own path.
There I was knowing how hard it was to get patients.  

Knowing that if I didn’t charge enough I wouldn’t have anything left over after I paid for rent.

Knowing that “waiting for patients” was a one way ticket to unemployment…

And it was no wonder so many we’re struggling.

So while I worked on my skills in school.

I was skeptical about their “business advice”.
And then I saw first hand how dangerous this advice really was as it played out before my eyes…
You see, all my friends told me I was crazy when I said I was going to start at $130 an hour.

They told me no one would ever pay me that much.

When I told them I was going to focus on marketing, do joint ventures, and workshops.

…They said I was wasting my time.

But I knew better.

I saw what worked for getting clients in the training space, so why wouldn't that translate to patient acquisition?

So while friends were stuck at facilities advertising $30 for a 1 hour session, where they took home $15…

With lead practitioners bragging it took them 5 years to get past $50K a year…

I was bringing in over $10K a month like clockwork fresh out of med school.

But it went further than that.
It Allowed Me to Make a Name for Myself, Even Traveling For the NFL as Consulting PT and Personal Trainer.
So back in 2009 when I got started I forged my own path.

I did workshops, joint ventures and created my own systems and processes.

All while charging more money than my peers.

And then all of a sudden I was hitting what my teachers told me was the goal.

I had a 3 month waitlist and I thought everything was great.

By focusing on Acquisition my practice was growing…

And since I charged a healthy rate, I was also making better money than most of the older therapists in my area.

All because I chose to go my own way…

But it also came with a hidden cost.
